When an injured person is determined to be permanently disabled, the Board examines whether the disability caused by the work injury affects his ability to return to the job prior to the injury and whether there is a permanent decrease of more than 20% of his income as a result.
In these cases, the Medical Board can increase the degree of disability permanently, up to half of the degree of disability determined for him.
Authority Committee
The Authority Committee recommends that the Medical Board determine a permanent degree of disability greater than half of the medical disability determined, with reference to the age
and profession of the insured. The committee will consider the injured person's ability to return to work and determine whether the disability has resulted in a significant decrease in the insured person's income on a permanent basis.
The Committee consists of a doctor from the National Insurance Institute, a work injury claims officer, a rehabilitation officer
